CLEAR LENS EXTRACTION
In modern cataract surgery the power of the lens implanted is chosen so that it corrects any optical error present.

This technique has become so predictable that it can be used to correct almost any refractive error, (ie., shortsightedness and longsightedness in the middle years) even before a cataract has developed, by doing a 'clear lens' extraction and implanting a lens of the appropriate strength.
